What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade works with small farmers to create cooperatives that guarantee farmers the payment of a higher price for their crops and practices the principles of ethical purchasing. A fair price that covers the cost of production and facilitates social development, and protection and conservation of the environment.
Why Organic?
Organic agriculture protects the health of people and the planet by reducing the overall exposure to toxic chemicals from synthetic pesticides. These pesticides can end up in the ground, air, water and food supply, and are associated with health consequences, from asthma to cancer. In order to be certified organic, crops must be grown on land free of prohibited substances for at least three years prior to harvest.
So remember that with each Fair Trade, organic purchase you make, you are contributing to a better quality of life for the growers!
